I wanted to start off tonight’s post with a quote from Canadian singer, poet and novelist Mr. Leonard Cohen which reads;
“There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.”
I don’t know much about this creative, but I can certainly appreciate his outlook on life when it comes to overcoming adversities with a positive attitude. It’s taken me a while to realize the power we have over our own emotions. We may chose to look at the not so great moments of our lives in a positive way and guess what? it will all work itself out organically. A recent new friend expressed to me that when you stop resisting your own self, your mind begins to align with your heart’s desire. The results of this practice ends up being crucial to your overall happiness.
Focusing on the solution and how you may benefit from the situation will get you through the rough patches a lot faster. None of us were ever meant to be perfect but it’s so important to love yourself even in the not so perfect areas of your lives. Be the positive light in your life so you may begin to practice being the light for others. Right now I think we all need a little more positiveness around us.
This was shot right by the Bethesda fountain located inside Central Park. I recently made a friend during a volunteer outing who expressed interest in doing a collaboration. He’s a New York native also doing photography amongst many other great things. As we arrived we were instantly faced with a challenge, there was no light underneath the beautiful overpass. We could have just done a regular shoot in the open parts of the park but instead we made it work by using a “reflector”. For my non-photographers it’s pretty much a big silver canvas that is used to reflects natural light off of pretty much anything.
So we noticed that in the far corner by the entrance of this terrace there was some light we could use and just went for it. We were both vibbing with good energy, positive attitude and determination. I can confidently say we did a great job!
It happened to be a very warm fall Saturday morning so it was perfect day for some black leather pants with boots. I wore a long kimono style waist coat with a bodysuit underneath. I like to keep looks simple yet put together. I had the whole modern day hippie vibe going with the big hair. It was a fun look and I hope you guys enjoy the images!
