I know many of us started off the year declaring that we would be a “New” person but I can’t say the same as it does not apply to my life. I will always be me no matter the season and that’s real. This New Year was off to a rocky start for me but the message I received from one of my favorite Pastor today place me right back on track. I hate how social media makes it seem like life is suppose to be pretty and easy lol. It’s not easy! There are days I can barely make it out of bed, I don’t even brush my hair, I rip my tights, I spill coffee somewhere on my clothes, I deal with crazy stress at work, I miss a deadline, sometimes even great opportunities and even days where I feel like a total failure.
Life is suppose to be crazy but it’s also meant to be beautiful. We need to balance the chaos with peace. I don’t know if I am the only one but I find myself in a constant battle with where I am headed in my journey. Ironically enough, Pastor Carl’s message today was titled “From here to there”. He explained how we can get from our current average life to God’s greatest plan for our lives. A life of abundance which means to have more than is necessary.
I don’t know about you but I want to live that abundant life. Pastor Carl shared three ideas on how to get from where you are to where you need to be. Even if you are not religious I think they are great points to apply to your everyday life and I am sharing in hope’s of helping anyone that might need to read this.
- “Know your worth”- the things that come into your life will be more aligned with what you deserve only when you know your worth. Raise the price of your life and know that you are worth more than you could ever imagine.
- “Eliminate the options”- Don’t fall victim to what anyone says about you. Believe that you are who God says you are.
- “Simplify your pursuit”- By simplifying your pursuit you are putting God first. Following his word will simplify your life. In return you worry less because he is always in control
Now I know that many of you might not be religious or even believe in Jesus. I was once very skeptical of trusting something supernatural without any proof. I believe that authoritarian approach to “religion” is what scares many folks. I have been in an out of church basically my entire life. Until I made Hillsong NYC my home. I began embracing and loving the only one who has never failed me. One day I will share my testimony but for now I pray you find peace in knowing that we don’t always have to have it all together. I am better than I was 2, 3, 4, 5 years ago. I am not there yet but I am on my way. It’s okay to fall and scrape your knees a couple of times. It’s all part of the process. Trust and believe you can have it all, yes ALL THAT!
